Fresh Produce

At Mission Shiloh we believe in engaging the community through business and stewarding the earth well. Read below to see what it’s all about.

Community Supported Agriculture

Mission Shiloh’s market farm is an important source of income for the work we do. We follow a model called Community Supported Agriculture (C.S.A.). C.S.A. is an agricultural business model where individuals and families buy seasonal production directly from the farmer.  Below are some examples of the seasonal produce we sell.

There are three primary benefits of the program. First, the proceeds of sales goes directly to the producer. Secondly, there is a relationship between buyer and producer, allowing the consumer to have direct contact with where and who produces their food. Lastly, the relationship of trust that is created between consumer and farmer can lead to Gospel conversations.

What is Small Scale Intensive Farming?

Small scale intensive farming is a growing technique that strives to produce the most amount of food in the smallest amount of space. This model allows the grower enough production to sustain a small business without the need for hundreds of acres. It also promotes local economy as those who buy from the farm usually live nearby. Mission Shiloh believes in the importance of small farms and local economy, as each creates community.

Why we believe growing organic is important?

We believe stewarding the earth well is a responsibility and witness to those who have not yet trusted Christ. Growing as naturally as we can and working with the natural processes God has put in place is an act of care for the health of others and future generations.
